Celebrating The McKissack Legacy
Introducing the Leatrice B. McKissack Scholarship Fund
"For everyone, everywhere, literacy is, along with education in general, a basic human right.... the road to human progress and the means through which every man, woman and child can realize his or her full potential.” - Kofi Annan, Former Secretary-General of the United Nations
On September 26th, 14+ Foundation established the Leatrice McKissack Scholarship Fund to pay tribute to Leatrice B. McKissack, former CEO of McKissack & McKissack from 1983-2000. Cheryl McKissack Daniel, is the current President/CEO and continues the McKissack Legacy - a fifth-generation family business and real-life success story that began more than 100 years ago, exemplifying the power and importance of the long-term sustainability we are striving to achieve with our Chipakata Children’s Academy.
The purpose of the Fund is to offer financial assistance to graduates of the Chipakata Children's Academy by providing direct financial support to top students graduating from our program, enabling them to continue onto secondary school and university-level education.
Fundraising efforts by 14+ Foundation for the Chipakata Children’s Academy will include allocations to the Leatrice B. McKissack Scholarship Fund on an annual basis.
